Trying to keep up my “situational awareness” in this subject area…
- Not all “35mm” are the same:
- http://notesonvideo.blogspot.com/2011/06/sonys-super-35mm-sensor_23.html
- Super-35 is like cropped 35mm film at around 25mm width, however the 5D Mk II has 35mm width.

- 5D Mk II sensor size appears to be fairly unique (going solely by what’s in this chart).

- Discusses the relevance of 35mm adaptors, especially in the light od DSLRs and cameras such as the AF100
- e.g. “A 35mm adapter on a small camera with a fixed lens doesnt make so much sense anymore”
- Discusses the relevance of 35mm adaptors, especially in the light od DSLRs and cameras such as the AF100
- But then again…
- DSLR’s don’t have 10-bit 422 output as does an EX3}
- According to http://blog.abelcine.com/2011/01/14/your-af100-questions-answered/, <<The AF100 has an uncompressed 8-bit SDI output. Currently, there is no way to get full 10-bit output from the camera.>>}
- From http://blog.abelcine.com/2011/08/30/sony-nex-fs100-and-hdmi-clarified/, <<The HDMI 1.4 port used on the FS100 outputs uncompressed 8-bit 4:2:2 or 8-bit RGB signals.>>}
- Nice review of F3 and FS100 by Alistair Chapman at http://nofilmschool.com/2011/05/sony-fs100-compare-sony-f3/
- Highlights that these (great) cameras have Super-35mm sensors. Not full-size then
- Includes Den Lennie (filming and presumably also comparing the two cameras)
