        • Does Red {2.1, 2001} include everything from boris?

            •  i mean all the features and filters of bae, fx pro, and graffiti?
          • Philip Hodgetts on Dec 8, 2001 at 9:04:01 pm
            • Yes, absolutely, and then a whole bunch more. All of Boris FX + All of Graffiti plus extra filters, spline objects (editable and animatable), render queue, multiple compositions per project… 3D composting environment.

            • In the list of other things included as RED-only features, let me add a few more
              • vector paint
              • motion tracking, motion stabilization and corner pin trackers
              • velocity remapping and temporal blur
              • 3d particle system
              • Photoshop and Illustrator files with layers
              • extrude any or all layers of an Illustrator file
            • There’s a lot more, but here a couple of other goodies to celebrate RED 2.1. As mentioned in an earlier thread, we’re including 5 fully functioning filters from the DigiEffects Delirium series. These are all excellent filters — hey, they’re from DigiEffects! of course they’re excellent — but I have to admit a particular fondness for Day for Night and Electrical Arcs. Just personal — they’re all great
            • There’s also the Intelligent Assistant for Boris RED, developed in conjunction with Philip and his team — the most sophisticated help system ever developed. In addition to the equivalent of over 600 pages of text, it includes over two and a half hours of movies, all searchable and hyperlinked, playing in a floating window over RED. I’m astounded by this thing every day, and folks who’ve seen it in recent demos are absolutely floored.

        • How to use Red to do a frame rate conversion
        • mark harvey on Jan 31, 2006 at 12:15:00 pm
          • I’m not sure that you can use Red for frame rate conversions. That said, if you are seeing the soccer ball I would suspect that possibly the filter is applied incorrectly. You probably applied the filter to the clip, yes ???
          • With optical flow, you have to apply the filter to the timeline, not the clip, then inside the filter itslef apply the clip (twirl down and you will see V1 inside optical flow on the source layer track of the filter, change this to your source footage).  You should now see your footage.
          • I’m not sure how your audio will fare through this, as Red doesn’t offer 3:2 pulldown capability either in the input, or the output. Trust me, I have asked for this in the past…… I have also asked, and will continue to ask for timeline frame rates, not project timelines….you can create some pretty nice film-like motion when you have the ability to mix frame rates, something I now turn to After Effects to complete.

        • Velocity Curves in Red 3.0?
          • Adam Duplay on Oct 9, 2009 at 1:09:20 am
            • Is there an equivalent function to After Effects graph editor in Boris Red 3.0?
            • I am trying to dampen the final landing speed of an animation that already has the starting keyframe set to decelerate and the end keyframe set to ease in. Is there any thing else I can do to slow the landing down besides adding more keyframes?
          • Ben Heusner Brownlee on Oct 9, 2009 at 5:57:07 am
            • If you twirl down the property enough you will get a graph.
            • Set the keyframe to Ease In/Out and you can adjust the bezier curve very easily.

        • Generating best quality varispeed- Twixter software?
        • Ted Joyce on Apr 5, 2002 at 10:53:36 pm
          • I’m looking for something that will generate the best quality varispeed (slow Mo’s of 25 to 75%). I’m told that the software Twixter (spelling?) will generate the needed difference frames and fields needed to make slow Mo’s. Anyone know about this and how well it works? I undersand it is an After Effects plug-in ~$500. Will it work with Boris?
        • Tim Wilson on Apr 7, 2002 at 1:38:30 pm
          • Look, Twixtor is a fine product. Everything that RE:Vision does is top notch.  But we never bothered testing it because Boris makes EXCELLENT time filters.
          • Think of it this way — Twixtor is about $500, FX is about the same. Combine them, and you’re just about at the cost of RED right now while it’s on sale. On top of that, you’ll also have outstanding titling, the most advanced 3D compositing on the desktop, motion tracking, image stabilizing, vector paint, rotoscoping, and lots of other features that you won’t get from the combination of FX and Twixtor (and again, I have no idea if they work together).
          • If you’re using AE or FCP, you should also consider Boris Continuum Complete, a set of over 80 filters that includes not just Velocity Remap and Temporal Blur, but *eight* time filters in all.

        • The Benefits of Adding Boris RED to Your Avid System
          • Time Filters include a Velocity Remap filter for smoothly ramping clip speed …
          • … and a Temporal Blur for sampling multiple frames across time.

            • Pan and Scan Oversized Images
              • Because Boris RED is a plug-in application it has extensive import capabilities. Oversized images or graphic files can be imported and panned or zoomed to create camera moves on still images.
              • This is the only way to gain resolution independence inside the Avid system.

          • Velocity Remap allows you to adjust and animate the frame rate of a video image and to blend adjacent frames to create smoother motion effects.
